Concealed Carry Forum
A forum for concealed carry on campus will be held this Thursday, Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. in the School of Law’s E.J. Ball Courtroom.

2018 Black History Month Celebration
The Special Collections Outreach team (featuring guest star Marianne Williams) will present a tabletop display Monday, Jan. 29 at the City of Fayetteville and Compassion Fayetteville press conference kicking off Black History Month. Joshua Youngblood will give remarks. The event will begin at 1 p.m. at the ALLPS School of Innovation in Fayetteville.

Well Pig Sooie
The third annual Well Pig Sooie Blood Drive will be held Jan. 25-26 from 9:30-3:30 in the Arkansas Union Verizon Ballroom. You can sign up online to secure your spot for that Thursday or Friday.

Jan. 30 Open Access Group Meeting
Please join us for the next meeting of the Open Access Group on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 3 p.m. in MULN 104. Elaine Thornton, Distance Education Librarian, will give a presentation on the Open Education and Textbook Affordability Program, sponsored by the University Libraries and Global Campus. She will also give an overview of the SPARC Open Education Leadership Program.

Jazz and the Civil Rights Movement
Join us Monday, February 12 from 2-5 in the Walton Reading Room to hear a lecture and performance by renowned flautist Galen Abdur-Razzaq.

Institutional repository coordinator Cedar Middleton was published in the newest Arkansas Libraries Journal, Fall/Winter 2017. Check out her article ‘Arkansas Teen Book Award: A Survey on Intent and Impact’ here.

Wrangling Library Data: Analytics, Dashboards, and Spreadsheets
Tabatha Farney, author of Using Digital Analytics for Smart Assessment (ALA Editions, 2018), will kick off the conference with her talk, “Being a True Analytics Advocate.” As the Director of Web Services and Emerging Technologies for the Kraemer Family Library at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Tabatha brings her experience using and writing about different types of analytics to our discussion.

During the day, learn from a variety of peers and experts – each time slot offers two or three different programming options. A sampling of the sessions includes:

  • Moving from Excel to LibInsight
  • Data Visualization for the Rest of Us: A Beginner’s Guide
  • Finding Your Meaningful Metrics
  • The Evolution of Cataloging: Best Practices for Metadata Management and Measuring Metadata Quality

The Razorbucks Machine Has Left the Building!
The copier in Periodicals still accepts Razorbucks, but patrons can no longer purchase cards or add cash to their accounts in Mullins. There’s still a Razorbucks machine in the Arkansas Union Living Room.

Libraries Sustainability Group
The purpose of the newly created Libraries Sustainability Group is to brainstorm and implement initiatives that promote sustainability within the Libraries. An open meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1 in room 302B. All who have interest are welcome to attend. Send agenda items to Marianne Williams at mw052@uark.edu.
