Sierra tip: removing old networked printers
Library IT has had scattered reports of Sierra freezing up on workstations with the message “processing.”  Usually this us because the workstation is still connected to a networked printer that no longer exists.  (Like one on Archer or Jammer).  Poor Sierra keeps looking for that printer and not finding it.

There are instructions for how to remove a networked printer here:http://uark.libguides.com/LibraryIT/tips .  We’re also happy to come do that for you if you send an email to libhelp@uark.edu

Welcome, Kristen!

Kristen Figgins is a doctoral candidate in English at the University of Arkansas. She is currently researching the ways in which attitudes towards animals developed post-Darwin and how those attitudes have evolved in contemporary adaptations of canonical 19c literature.

Three Weird Questions:

If you could be any superhero/comic book character, whom would you be and why?

Since I would prefer to be someone who was not traumatized in their youth, and since very few of those characters exist, I would probably be The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl (who actually defeated Thanos in the comics once, so fingers crossed for a surprise ending to Avengers: Endgame). Her origin story does not involve being an orphan who watched her parents get shot in an alley and one of her superpowers is being able to speak to squirrels, so I think the “why” speaks for itself.

What would the title of your autobiography be?

Probably something along the lines of “No, I’m Not Mad At You (subtitle: My Face Just Looks Like This)” or “Not Canadian: The True Story of A Too Polite American.”

What’s the longest book you’ve ever read?

I can’t be sure, because I’ve read so many books. But I remember reading Gone With the Wind when I was ten, and I distinctly remember it being over 1,000 pages. I checked it out from my school library because it was the longest book there. I did not care for it.

I work under Michelle Gibeault as a Research Instruction Assistant, and I’m still learning about new things about my job every day. Currently, I’m working on developing projects for the English department faculty and students regarding primary source research.
