The red, black and grey logo reads "OneSearch," and underneath, "BOOKS. ARTICLES. COLLECTIONS. MORE."

OneSearch indexes an amazing number of library collections, but it doesn’t contain everything.

You may wish to search beyond our library’s holdings.  Or, you may need the more focused searching used in comprehensive, subject-oriented databases.

The Libraries have added new options to OneSearch to allow you to send your search terms to several different resources.  You’ll find these options in the left filters column in your search results under the heading “Search Other Databases.”  Click the down arrow to expand this section to view options:

WorldCat iconWorldCat

WorldCat describes items owned by libraries around the world. WorldCat allows you to find items not held here and request them though our Interlibrary Loan service. Types of publications cataloged include: books, journals, maps, slides, computer data files, magazines, musical scores, sound recordings, computer programs, manuscripts, newspapers, videotapes, bibliographies, master’s theses, doctoral dissertations, and software.

Google Scholar logoGoogle Scholar

Google Scholar searches academic publications such as articles, theses, book chapters, and conference proceedings from commercial publishers and open access sites.  Though there is a great deal of overlap between OneSearch and Google Scholar, Google may retrieve open access preprints or postprints held in institutional repositories that are not indexed in OneSearch.

EBSCO logoEBSCO

The EBSCO platform hosts some of our most popular services, including CINAHL for nursing, APA PsycINFO and related databases from the American Psychological Association, the MLA International Bibliography for literary studies, and CAB Abstracts for agriculture and related disciplines.  While much of the material indexed in EBSCO databases can be found in OneSearch, it is sometimes helpful to use the specialized subject tools in the EBSCO interface.

Please send your comments on this new feature or on any library resources to libweb@uark.edu.
