OneSearch Home Page

A recent update to the library’s general search engine, OneSearch, gives you several options to customize the tool and make it your own.

Research Assistant Enhancements

In addition to filtering by content type or date, you can now limit your Research Assistant results to articles and books that are available online.  Just click the filter icon and check the checkbox for available online.

In your results, you will see links to full text online or to view the full record in OneSearch for more options.

Save Your Search History.  Or Not.

By default, OneSearch will save your previous search history for both regular and Research Assistant queries.  If you would prefer that your search history NOT be saved, you can turn that feature off.  To do so:

  1. Log into your library account (upper right hand corner)
  2. Choose My Personal details and settings.
  3. Switch off the buttons for Allow saving search history and Allow saving Research Assistant search history.

Changed your mind?  You can always return to your Personal details and settings and re-enable the feature.  Your searches will be saved from that point forward.

Other functions in your Personal settings include the ability to have recommended searches based on previous searches and extend your session automatically.  Extending your session automatically reduces the number of times you must re-login to the service after inactivity.

Browse by Journal Title

On the Journal Search page, you can now browser by journal title, in addition to searching by title keywords or browsing by journal subject.  Note the Journal title browse omits initial articles such as “a” and “the.”
