Throughout the month of October, the University Libraries and The Razorback yearbook staff are raising funds for the digitization of University of Arkansas yearbooks. The anticipated cost of digitizing all yearbooks from 1897 to 2018 is $11,000.
University of Arkansas alumni Jeff and Margo Germany have issued a challenge gift for the yearbook digitization fundraiser. Once 75 percent of the $11,000 goal is reached, an additional $1,000 will be unlocked. As of Friday, Oct. 26, 46 donors have helped the Libraries reach 58 percent of the project goal.
“The University of Arkansas is a family affair for us,” said Margo. “Jeff and I met there. My father attended U of A School of Medicine. My son attended as well as countless relatives from near and far. We look forward to seeing friends and family through the years as the yearbooks are digitized.”
Contributors to the project now have the option of honoring a yearbook staff member, past or present, with their gift.
Once they are digitized and made available online, yearbooks will be fully searchable. The ability to search will be of particular use to researchers and those looking for photos of family members.
Alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends of the University of Arkansas are encouraged to make a gift at fundrazor.uark.edu/yearbook, and to share project information with their networks through emails and social media.
