The University Libraries’ and Graduate School and International Education’s Graduate Student Speaker Series will begin again this fall with Will Teague, a doctoral candidate and graduate assistant in the history department. Teague will present “Deportation as Diplomacy: Carter and the US-Iranian Relationship” at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, in the Special Collections reading room. This event is free and open to the public.
“My talk will look at the development of the US-Iranian relationship during the Cold War and its eventual unraveling during the Iranian Revolution and Iranian Hostage Crisis,” said Teague. “The talk is an expansion of an article I published in the summer 2018 Arkansas Historical Quarterly titled ‘Hostages of the Crisis: Iranian Students in Arkansas.'”
The Graduate Student Speaker Series debuted in fall 2018 as a platform for students to share the research they have conducted using Special Collections materials. Graduate students from all majors who are interested in presenting on the research they have done using Special Collections materials are encouraged to visit the speaker series webpage.
