The University of Arkansas Libraries have purchased a golf cart, thanks to a sponsorship from Chris and Missy Harlin.
“Missy and I are happy to be able to support the U of A and specifically the library,” said Chris, who serves as President and CEO of Century Bank of the Ozarks. “Both of our daughters are recent UA graduates, as well as my grandparents, so the U of A is very near and dear to our hearts.”
The golf cart has been operative since February of this year. It provides a variety of transportation solutions for the University Libraries, and particularly for Mullins Library, which is currently in the middle of a multi-year renovation.
“The golf cart has so many uses for the Libraries,” said Jason Battles, Dean of Libraries. “Since there’s no place to park at Mullins Library, we’re now able to transport external constituents from remote parking areas so they may more easily attend special events and meetings. As we move into Phase II of the Mullins renewal project, it’s also going to be very helpful in bringing some of our temporarily displaced faculty and staff together from remote points of campus. We’re really grateful to Chris and Missy for helping us with the purchase of the vehicle.”
Century Bank of the Ozarks is a 128-year-old, family-owned community bank based in south central Missouri with a full service facility in Mountain Home, Ark., as well as a Loan Office located in the Pryor Center on the downtown Fayetteville square.
