Join University Libraries and the Department of Music from 2-5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, in the Helen Robson Walton Reading Room for a lecture and performance by flautist Galen Abdur-Razzaq. This event is free and open to the public.

Abdur-Razzaq will present a 75-minute lecture on Jazz and the Civil Rights Movement in honor of Black History Month, followed by a 15-minute intermission and a 90-minute performance.

An accomplished flautist with an extensive performance career, he is also a speaker on the topic of jazz and has performed at colleges and universities nationwide for over 30 years. He holds a master’s degree in education and performing arts and studied music at the Berklee School of Music in Boston.

“Galen received rave reviews from the universities at which he previously performed,” said Carolyn Henderson Allen, dean of University Libraries. “We are delighted that the University of Arkansas campus community will get to experience this uniquely educational and entertaining event.”
