Pink Dot Completion

pink dotFor the past several months, library personnel have been applying pink dots to items to designate those that will stay here in Mullins when other collections are moved to the new high-density facility.  We celebrate a milestone this week at the completion of that project: more than 160,000 dots have been applied and records updated in a project that required hundreds of hours of staff time.

With this task completed, the collection is almost ready for renovation

Level 1: It’s all About the Boxes

Storage trays waiting to be built.
Only a portion of the book trays to be assembled on Level 1.

You thought moving out of your dorm room required a lot of boxes.

On Level 1, the book movers have begun building the trays that will hold items sent to high-density storage.  These, the first of several semi-truck loads of tray shipments eventually totaling 100,000 trays, are being assembled on Level 1.  The movers are also using Room 104 as their computer work area.

Due to space needs for tray building, some materials in the “N” (art and architecture) call number range may be out of order while we shift.  Please ask us if you need help locating materials.
