A full schedule for the Open Education Southern Symposium is now available online. The symposium, co-sponsored by the University Libraries and Global Campus, is set for Oct. 1-2 and will connect supporters of open education for presentations, lightning talks and panel discussions. Registration is limited to 100 participants.

“We’re so excited to release our program schedule for the Open Education Southern Symposium after receiving many outstanding proposal submissions. We’ve been able to create a program featuring sessions for those new to open education and open pedagogy as well as those who are seasoned practitioners,” said Stephanie Pierce, head of the Physics Library. “We’re especially excited to have keynote speaker Jasmine Roberts, sessions being presented by SPARC and Student PIRGs, and a group of students from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock presenting with their professor.”

Roberts is a strategic communication lecturer in the School of Communication at Ohio State University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in communication studies and Spanish at the University of Michigan and her master’s degree in communication at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Prior to pursuing an academic career, Jasmine worked in marketing and public relations for the non-profit and entertainment industries. She is the author of Writing of Strategic Communication Industries, an openly licensed textbook and writing guide. She is also a 2017 – 2018 research fellow with the Open Education Group and a presenter for the Open Textbook Network.

Registration for the conference is now full. Please contact the Planning Committee at openedsouthsymposium@gmail.com for more information or with questions regarding registration.
