Molly Boyd Presents at the 2015 Library Marketing and Communications Conference
Last week Molly Boyd presented “Planning and Promoting a Value-Added Exhibit: A Practical Guide” to the LMCC15 attendees. Molly touched on several of the Libraries’ exhibits and outreach events, including our Remnant Trust exhibit. Attendees were impressed with the hard work that went into, and the great results that came out of, hosting materials from The Remnant Trust. The conference, designed for library employees who are involved in marketing, communication, public relations, social media, and outreach in academic, public, and special libraries, explored issues important to library communicators at every level. Great job, Molly!

Special Collections Helps KUAF Celebrate Thirty Years Broadcasting NPR Programming
The latest exhibit from Special Collections, on view in the Walton Reading Room, helps document KUAF’s early years as a 10-watt student radio station supervised by a faculty member in the 1970s, through the last 30 years as our area’s NPR affiliate. KUAF now operates at 100,000 watts at a state-of-the-art facility, serving 14 counties in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. The exhibit features artifacts on loan from the KUAF studios, including some of the older technology they once used, microphones used in broadcasting, and the wooden chicken used to collect trivia contestant names. The exhibit is curated by Cat Wallack with assistance from Amy Allen. KUAF is donating scrapbooks and program guides to Special Collections. Great work, team!

University Libraries Joins IFLA Agricultural Libraries Section
Judy Ganson and Necia Parker-Gibson report that the Libraries have joined IFLA’s Agricultural Libraries Section, along with other US institutions like Cornell University, Penn State, and Purdue. This new section will facilitate collaboration around the world to preserve and provide information about growing food and fiber in a time when food insecurity and world hunger are rampant, the world population continues to grow, and the amount of arable land diminishes. IFLA is the International Federation of Library Associations and is the global voice of the library and information profession. The overall focus of the organization is to support to libraries engaged in providing access to information in its various forms, without regard to political or social upheaval.

Elaine’s Computer Tips: Set 2-Sided Printing as Your Default Mode
If you have an HP Printer (LJ P1606 or P1606dn) you can duplex print to conserve paper – and support Strategic Initiative and Goals 5.1. First be sure to close any application you may use to print before changing the default setting. Then, on Windows go to the Control Panel and enter Devices and Printers. Right click the P1606 and select printing preferences. Set Duplex printing as on and confirm the change, the default setting will remain as duplex. (If you use a Mac, open the application used to print and click on File > Print. Set duplex printing as needed, then click the Presets menu and save the current settings as a preset. Once completing a print job with the saved preset it will remain default till another preset will be used. Thanks, Elaine!
