Allen Talks about New Book, University Archives, and Even Mullins’ Basement on Ozarks at Large
Last Wednesday on Ozarks at Large, Amy Allen had the opportunity to talk about her new book and her role in Special Collections during an interview with Christina Karnatz. Allen worked with Tim Nutt to sift through hundreds of photos to tell the history of the University of Arkansas in pictures. Listen to the interview to find out about her favorite photo in University of Arkansas, and why the 1940s fascinate her – along the way she shares interesting tidbits about her work in the University Archives. Allen and Nutt will also be at the Fayetteville Public Library this Sunday from 2-4pm for an author talk and book signing.

From the Archives: #OTD 60 Years Ago Rosa Parks Started the Montgomery Bus Boycott
On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks sat down in the white section of a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. Two years later she celebrated the anniversary of that moment at the Highlander Folk School along with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and many others. Visit this Facebook post by Joshua Youngblood to learn about an image from our own Special Collections taken during that celebration. The image is from the archives of Governor Orval E. Faubus. The Faubus Papers (MS F271) provide resources on the political history of Arkansas during the pivotal period of the 1950s and 1960s. Thanks, Joshua!
