READ THIS!: Two CAN’T MISS Events
It’s Faculty Appreciation Week 2016 and the Libraries are celebrating our faculty tomorrow morning in Mullins’ Staff Lounge at 10am with coffee, treats, and general merriment – I even heard a rumor about popcorn, too!  All faculty and staff of the Libraries are welcome, so please stop by if your schedule allows. And next Tuesday is the best day of the year – National Library Workers Day! At 2pm in Mullins’ Staff Lounge we will be honoring the winners of our NLWD Awards. The event is emceed this year by Lora Lennertz! We’ll also be celebrating National Library Week all week long with blog posts by our dedicated students, staff, and faculty, so stay tuned to 365 McIlroy. Don’t miss out on these great events – they aren’t possible without you!

University Libraries and Librarians Featured at Mellon Symposium Tomorrow
The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Rare Book School at the University of Virginia are teaming with the University of Arkansas to host the Mellon Symposium on Manuscripts and Rare Books from 9:30am-5:30pm tomorrow, 4/8, in the second floor Honors College Study Hall in Gearhart Hall. More information about the event and the schedule of speakers are available online. The event is free and open to the public and provides an opportunity for participants to view holdings from the Libraries’ Special Collections, Fine Arts Library and Mullins Library. Michelle Gibeault, Phil Jones, and Joshua Youngblood will be hosting a table of reproductions throughout the morning tomorrow.

TRAIL Comes to U of A
Patricia Kirkwood reports that TRAIL is celebrating 10 years of digitizing technical reports from Federal government agencies.  As part of the process they catalog them at title level.  This year’s meeting will be held April 26 – 27at the University of Arkansas and is hosted by Dean Carolyn Henderson Allen. The Libraries expect 20 librarians from around the country including representatives from GPO, UNT, and many other GWLA and CRL libraries.  Awesome news, Patricia!

Book Display for April Celebrates National Poetry Month
Michelle Gibeault worked with Julia Paganelli of the English Department’s MFA in Creative Writing program to choose the titles for this month’s book display. The books showcase a diverse range of poetry and authors and are available to check out on the main floor of Mullins. Sarah Spiegel also works to make the monthly displays available online, on channels like Facebook. It’s Drop Everything and Read Month, too, so check out Claudia Rankine’s Citizen or Pablo Neruda’s I Explain a Few Things today. Thanks Michelle and Sarah, and thanks too, to Charles Sabo, who helped us with this month’s display!

All Libraries Faculty/Staff Invited to Upcoming Social Media Meeting
Please join the Libraries Social Media Team on Monday, 4/11 at 3:30pm in Mullins room 472B to talk about the April/May social media content calendar, how you can help amplify National Library Week content, and to generate content ideas for end of the semester merriment. During the second half of the hour, Rachel Paul from Performing Arts and Media will present a Canva tutorial (Canva is a graphic design app that lets us all be graphic designers!). She will also share some Twitter best practices she’s learned while managing PAM’s Twitter feed – this will be especially helpful for anyone who posts to Twitter on behalf of any of the Libraries’ channels. There will be a few minutes at the end for Q&A.
