Project Ceres Funds Preservation of Arkansas Extension Bulletins
U of A has received funding from  Project Ceres to preserve Extension Services Bulletins and make them freely available through digitization. Necia Parker-Gibson, Plant Sciences, Environmental Sciences, and Human Environmental Sciences Librarian, is supervising the project. The bulletins are Extension Services publications with related content to the Circulars currently being digitized, but are written for agents, farmers and practitioners, as well as the general public. There are 897 items in the collection dating back to 1899. Online publication of these bulletins will increase their visibility, availability, and use.  The materials will be especially useful to Extension personnel, historians, archivists, and researchers studying agriculture, history, and sociology in Arkansas.

Summon Show & Tell Scheduled for Tomorrow
Kathleen Lehman, User Experience Librarian reports that the Discovery Implementation Steering Committee is holding a Summon Show & Tell, open to all interested library personnel, Wednesday, May 18 from 1:30-2:30pm in Mullins 102. This overview gives some general information about the discovery layer with only the e-resources loaded – please note that catalog records are not yet loaded! This is an opportunity to explore Summon’s functionality at an early stage. The Committee hopes to have another show and tell later this summer.  If you can’t join them for the overview, please feel free to explore on your own at the landing page. Direct any questions to Joel Thornton or Kathleen Lehman.

Performing Arts and Media Updates Circulation Policy for CD/DVD Check Outs
Rachel Paul, Performing Arts and Media Supervisor, reports that PAM has updated the circulation policy for CD and DVD materials. Patrons are now able to renew these items for one week. Previously, no renewals were allowed for these materials. The Performing Arts and Media Library provides services and access to collections and resources to support learning, research, and studies in music, theatre, and dance – but it also houses extensive audio-video collections in various formats to support interdisciplinary studies in the areas of humanities and social sciences. AND did you know PAM has a hoppin’ twitter feed?  Follow them at @UARKpam!

Shout Out (n.) Informal. A message of congratulation, support, or appreciation.
“I wanted to give a huge thank you to Krista Casada, Cataloging Assistant, for her willingness to take on the Graduate Theses and Dissertations task of acceptance. She jumped into the craziest time of the year and has done a wonderful job. Thanks Krista!!!” – submitted by Cedar Middleton, Institutional Repository Assistant (This is a new, semi-regular feature for the Tuesday Times. Let your colleagues know how much you appreciate them by giving them a shout out in the next edition.)
