Welcome, Chelsea!
My name is Chelsea Hoover, and I just moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas, to start work as the Music and Media Cataloging Assistant at the University of Arkansas. I was born in Oakland, California, grew up in Athens, Georgia, and recently lived in Bloomington, Indiana, where I completed a master’s degree in music librarianship from Indiana University.

Three Weird Questions:

If you could have chosen the era in which you were born, which would you have chosen and why?

The 1960s because I LOVE music from that decade, and I would have been around when those tunes were first being performed.

If you could close your eyes and be anywhere on Earth when they opened, where would you be?

Paris, France, because I love food and have heard that this is where the good cuisines are.

What’s your favorite guilty pleasure when it comes to candy?

Take 5 Bars!!!

As I mentioned earlier, I am the new Music and Media Cataloging Assistant, and I will be assisting Professor Drew Beisswenger with cataloging music materials. I am very excited for this job opportunity in my field of study, and I look forward to getting to know and work with everyone here at the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville.

Stop by Mullins 214 and say hello! Chelsea can also be reached at chelseah@uark.edu.

New Employee Orientation
We will be hosting our annual New Employee Orientation on Wednesday afternoon, August 30 from 3:15 to 5:00 p.m. This year, we will meet in Room 104 for a short presentation and then divide into groups for tours of Mullins Library, so the new employees will be more familiar with the library operations and their locations. After the tours, we will meet in the Staff Lounge at 4:30 p.m. for ice cream and introductions. Please have a department representative available from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the department to greet tour groups as they arrive. We are anticipating at least three different groups.

Please also have the new employees in your areas sign up to attend at http://libraries.uark.edu/humanresources/hrcoursesviewall.asp

Thank you for your cooperation!

Open Access Group: An Invitation
All library faculty and staff are welcome to join the University Libraries Open Access Group. The group meets on the last Tuesday of every month at 3 PM in Mullins 486. Please join us on Tuesday, 29 August, as we make plans for new academic year.   In addition to planning Open Access Week and other events, we’re going to host guest speakers and invite library personnel to give presentations on their own projects. Please bring your ideas!

If you’re not able to attend this meeting but you’d like to participate in the group, please contact Melody Herr [herr@uark.edu].
