The University Libraries are pleased to host an Open House on Nov. 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in ARKU 504 in celebration of GIS Day, an annual, internationally recognized event promoting geographic information systems technology and its applications.
Global information systems link the “what” (information) to the “where” (location), making GIS one way to effectively visualize and analyze data. The Open House is an opportunity to communicate knowledge, explore collaboration with other departments and learn how different disciplines at the university use GIS and geospatial technologies in their research and beyond.
GIS Day will feature speakers, posters, equipment demonstrations, interactive technology demonstrations, a book display and light refreshments.
Students, staff and faculty are invited to attend and participate by presenting a talk, poster or demonstration. Share your GIS-related research, cartographic masterpieces, insights into the way geospatial technology impacts our daily lives, or anything else involving GIS.
To indicate interest in presenting or to ask questions, submit your information via online formby Tuesday, Oct. 17. An event organizer will follow up with you.
Note: if you have already communicated with an event organizer about participating, you do not need to fill out the form.
A detailed schedule of events will be posted at a later date. The University Libraries look forward to seeing you on GIS Day.
