Creative Commons LogoOctober 19 – 25 is International Open Access Week, an annual worldwide effort to raise awareness of initiatives to make research materials more readily available.

Creative Commons offers a search page that helps you locate images, sound, and video files for use, sharing, and remixing in your educational, non-profit websites, blogs, Blackboard classes, or other online materials. The Creative Commons search page is not a unified single search engine, but instead provides links to various search services that allow you to filter results based on Creative Commons licensing.  There are also extensions to Creative Commons Search that allow you to add the search tool to your browser bar or incorporate Creative Commons Search into your Firefox search options.

Creative Commons (CC) is a nonprofit organization that enables the sharing and use of creativity and knowledge through standard license terms.  CC licenses offer creators the options of offering materials for terms ranging from free use with no attribution needed, to free use for non-profit educational use with attribution, to more restrictive terms requiring both attribution and no alteration (remixing or editing) of the object. CC tools provide an easy way for you to incorporate the creative work of others into your own efforts without violating copyright or commercial license terms.
