Gale Access Program Trial
This spring, try out a bounty of research databases from Gale. We’re not sure if Gale is trying to get ready for Real ID or if they just wanted to do a little spring cleaning but—in case you missed it—several Gale resources have enjoyed name changes in 2020.
Gale Literary Resources is now Gale Literature
This database serves as a gateway to several important resources for researching literary criticism, author profiles, and full text of works of fiction, drama, poetry, and . Make it your first stop when embarking on a new field area of literary inquiry.
Gale Literary Criticism / Literary Criticism Online is now Gale Literature Criticism
This database offers excerpts of criticism from several different series: Drama Criticism, Poetry Criticism, Shakespeare Criticism, and Short Story Criticism.
Literature Resource Center is now Gale Literature Resource Center
This database combines biographical sketches and critical essays from Contemporary Authors, Dictionary of Literary Biography (selections), Contemporary Literary Criticism (selections only), the Scribners Writers series and Twayne’s World, English, and US Authors series.
Dictionary of Literary Biography Complete Online is now Gale Literature Dictionary of Literary Biography
This monumental set provides biographical and critical essays on the lives, works, and careers of the world’s major literary figures from all eras and genres.
Something about the Author is now Gale Literature Something about the Author
Offers thousands of illustrated biographical profiles of children’s authors and illustrators
Gale Virtual Reference Library is now Gale EBooks
This platform hosts dictionaries and encyclopedias, directories, chronologies, and other reference sources purchased by your librarians.

Gale Database Updates
Beyond simple name changes, Gale has been introducing new functionality in 2020. The new Enhanced Product Interface, which is now live in most literature and humanities databases, offers a richer, more accurate search experience.
Most databases now offer a consistent toolbar with the most frequently-accessed functions, such as cite, download, link, and email.
Faceted search results allow you to filter for multiple criteria at once, such as person about, publication title, or document type.
“Listen” tools allow you to hear an article or essay read aloud.
“Topic” suggestions in Gale Literature Criticism offer curated articles and essays on subjects such as American Civil War Era Memoirs and Autobiographies, Hawaiian Children’s Literature, Feminist Criticism, Monster Fiction, or Literature of the Harlem Renaissance.
