Let’s say you are one of Santa’s elves and need to know:

  • the largest manufacturers of dolls?
  • peppermint makers in Poland?
  • names at Nestlé Purina PetCare for executives who could help with reindeer chow sourcing?
  • international sources of clean coal?

All these and more can be found in the Libraries’ expanded offerings of business, company, and industry data from Mergent Online. Mergent (building on key business reports developed by Moody’s and Dun & Bradstreet) has long been a trusted source for financial and other information on publicly-traded companies and key industries. The core Mergent Online subscription covers:

  • 15,000 U.S. public companies (active and inactive) listed on the NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ exchanges
  • 20,000 non-U.S. companies (active and inactive)
  • Economic sector reports from U.S. and abroad

Most public company reports will provide a business summary, a stock price history, key financials, key executives, corporate news, a description of the corporate ownership structure, 10-K and other corporate filings, and information on key competitors.

Recent additions to this core database include:

  • D&B Private Company Database: Over 34 million private company records are available for both domestic and international companies, with financials for 450,000 North American private companies.
  • Key Business Ratios (Current File): Industry benchmarks compiled from the D&B (Dun and Bradstreet) database of public and private companies, featuring 14 key business ratios (users choose a one-year or three-year set of ratios) for public and private companies in 800 lines of business. Identify solvency, efficiency, and profitability ratios across a variety of sectors.
  • Mergent Archives: featuring retrospective Annual Reports and Key Business Ratios. These sources provide annual reports back to 1925 and business ratios back to 1979, extending our coverage of historical business data.
