Governor Clayton Thanksgiving Proclamation

November 24, 1870, amidst the turmoil of Reconstruction as Arkansas faced political strife and violence from terror groups such as the KKK, Governor Powell Clayton proclaimed a Thanksgiving holiday for every Arkansan.
