Reminder: Endnote Instruction Sessions
Do you have to cite sources for your paper, thesis or dissertation? Register to attend one of the remote instruction sessions listed below.

In this session, you will learn how to manage your citations using EndNoteWeb citation manager:

  • export references from various databases (such as Web of Science, PubMed, SciFinder, Annual Reviews, Compendex, PsycINFO, ERIC, etc.)
  • import them into EndNote Web and format them to automatically create your paper and bibliography
  • use the references you have saved in your database to ‘Cite While You Write’ and produce your formatted term paper or thesis/dissertation.

A Perfect Mashup: CONTENTdm and the Internet Archive 
Join Martha Anderson Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. for an OCLC webinar. She’ll describe a mashup of CONTENTdm and the Internet Archive platforms used to present the Razorback Yearbooks digital collection in anticipation of the U of A’s sesquicentennial.

Lora Lennertz, data services librarian, will present a mix of public and Libraries-only workshops in observation of Fair Use Week Feb. 22-26.

Introduction to Copyright in the Libraries

3 – 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23

Libraries interact with the copyright laws in a variety of ways. This workshop will provide a review of:

  • The laws that form US copyright
  • How to identify materials that are no longer under copyright
  • How to identify whether you may take a fair use exception
  • Can I copy this?
  • The basics of open access licensing

Fair Use Fandango

3 – 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25

This session is designed to provide information on making fair use decisions within the libraries. Have you had some hairy fair use questions? Now is the time to discuss them in a fun and friendly environment. If you would like to submit a scenario before the workshop, please contact lennertz@uark.edu.

The Basics of Copyright (Zoom)

12 – 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24

The University community interacts with copyright in a variety of ways. This workshop will provide an overview of copyright legislation, fair use and open licensing.

  • The laws that form US copyright
  • How to identify materials that are no longer under copyright
  • The elements of the fair use exception
  • The basics of open access licensing

Please note that this workshop will not cover author rights, patents or trademarks.

Applying Fair Use in the Classroom (Teams)

12 – 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26

This year has required that we teach in a variety of modes. What was a difficult task, being copyright compliant, has become even more complicated. Join the library in an overview of copyright legislation and a discussion of fair use. Investigate some best practices for copyright compliance in your classroom.
