Amy Allen Taking Part in Local Author Showcase this Saturday
Meet and greet several of Arkansas’ local authors (and get your books signed!), this Saturday at the Fayetteville Barnes & Noble, from 1-4pm. Our own Amy Allen, University Archivist, will be on hand to chat about University of Arkansas.  Allen’s book features 215 vintage images that tell the story of the university’s first 125 years. Also attending the showcase are Timothy Nutt, Abby Burnett, Amy Lillard, Timothy Cook, Susan Culp and Radine Trees Nehring.

Special Collections Sourced for Recent Feature on Ozarks at Large
Last week on Ozarks at Large, Cat Wallack, Architectural Records Archivist, talked shop with Jacqueline Froelich about international modernist architect Edward Durell Stone’s Arkansas legacy. After giving Froelich an overview of the Edward Durell Stone Papers, housed in the Arkansas Architectural Archives in Special Collections, Wallack and Froelich toured the Fine Arts Center. The Fine Arts Center, designed by Stone, was completed in 1948 and still houses the Fine Arts Library. FAL uses much of its original mid-century modern furniture originally specced for the project. Great job, Cat!

Native Arkansan Brings Mixed Media Works to Mullins Library
Najee Dorsey’s Remixed: Something Ole, Sum Nu Roux is now on view now in Mullins Library. Part of the University Libraries’ Black History Month programming, the colorful and engaging show highlights scenes of African American life in the south.  The show is up through March and the pieces can be seen in the Dean’s hallway and in the main Learning Commons area on Level 2. Check out the online gallery for more info, and tag #najeeremixed on social media to let us know which pieces are your favorites.

The University Libraries Remember C.D. Wright
Joshua Youngblood posted a remembrance of CD Wright, who passed away last week, on 365 McIlroy. Wright was a renowned poet who completed her MFA at the University of Arkansas in 1976. Many of her works are preserved in Special Collections as published volumes and manuscripts.  Youngblood also highlights Wright’s literary map of Arkansas, which hangs outside the entrance to Special Collections – when was the last time you stopped by to take a look? Thank you, Joshua!

Website Updates: Rolling Out the New Catalog and a New Location for the StaffWeb Link
On our homepage, the StaffWeb link is moving from the left navigation tabs to the bottom nav icons – look for a gear icon near the LibGuides or Citation Manager icons. Or, bookmark StaffWeb on your browser.  Also, the remodeled catalog interface is now live, mobile friendly, and fabulous.  You will soon see the Libraries’ catalog when you visit library.uark.edu  from a handheld device, like your phone or tablet, instead of AirPAC’s mobile version.  Thank you, Web Services!

CRL Members Help Choose Nearly $200,000 in New Materials
The Center for Research Libraries (CRL) has announced the upcoming purchase of seven microfilm collections through the 2016 Purchase Proposal Program, with a list price value of $192,215. This program allows CRL member libraries to recommend research materials for acquisition and shared use. The University Libraries have a membership in CRL, a “library’s library,” which collects and preserves obscure and international materials. Find out more about CRL and their latest acquisitions in Beth Juhl’s recent 365 McIlroy post.
