Cover of Construyendo el museo: el edificio de Edward Durell StoneThe Edward Durell Stones Papers are Highlighted in Exhibition’s Booklet
Catherine Wallack, Architectural Records Archivist, worked with Pablo Perez d’Ors, the Associate Curator of European Art at Museo de Arte de Ponce to provide many of the images that appear in Construyendo el museo: el edificio de Edward Durell Stone, the booklet and essay documenting the an exhibit of the same name that celebrates the museum’s 50th anniversary inside a Stone design.  The exhibit reunites drawings, plans, photographs and a sound recording from the Luis A. Ferré Historical Archive, with materials from the Edward Durell Stone Papers at the University Libraries. Copies of the booklet will be processed and made available through Special Collections. Great work, Cat!

Meat Science Review Featured on Research Frontiers
“Meat Science Around the World, 1980-2014,” a Review of Science for Science Librarians published in the journal Science & Technology Libraries, was featured on the Research Frontiers blog today.  Co-authors Tony Stankus, Josef Laincz and Rachel Linck analyzed 8,339 articles for the review. Stankus is life sciences librarian, Laincz is geosciences and maps librarian, and Linck is one of our graduate assistants.  The article proved that U of A is a world leader in published meat science research, is tied for first place in the world for published articles in poultry meat science, and tied for third in beef meat science. Great job, team!

Update from the Summon Implementation Team
The Summon Implementation Team needs your help naming the Libraries new discovery tool, now that planning is well underway. Do you have suggestions for a name to use for branding?  Please email your suggestions to Joel Thornton (jbt012@uark.edu) or Kathleen Lehman (kalehman@uark.edu).  Also, Kathleen Lehman reports that the team will be asking for input and feedback from various groups of library personnel and patron users throughout the process, but if you want to be especially up-to-date on Summon related work and progress, please email her (kalehman@uark.edu) to be added to the Summon Basecamp Communications list.  The Implementation Team will use the list to send out details and frequent reports of activities.  Thanks, team!

IUG Overview by Conference Attendees
On Wednesday, 4/13 at 10am in Mullins room 104, those who attended the Innovative Users Group conference will be offering a report on sessions and topics of interest. This is the user group for the Libraries’ Sierra catalog.  Sherryl Faulkner-Robinson, Trent Garner, Kathleen Lehman, Elaine Roser, and Beth Juhl will give reports. All Libraries faculty and staff are welcome to attend.

All Libraries Faculty/Staff Invited to Upcoming Social Media Meeting
Please join the Libraries Social Media Team on Monday, 4/11 at 3:30pm in Mullins room 472B to talk about the April/May social media content calendar, how you can help amplify National Library Week content, and to generate content ideas for end of the semester merriment. During the second half of the hour, Rachel Paul from Performing Arts and Media will present a Canva tutorial (Canva is a graphic design app that lets us all be graphic designers!). She will also share some Twitter best practices she’s learned while managing PAM’s Twitter feed – this will be especially helpful for anyone who posts to Twitter on behalf of any of the Libraries’ channels. There will be a few minutes at the end for Q&A.

UARK Libraries Celebrate All In For ArkansasAre You All In For Arkansas?
TODAY is U of A’s 145th birthday, and “All in for Arkansas” is happening now to help celebrate. This online fundraiser is set to run for just 1,871 minutes – in honor of the University’s founding year – with the goal to raise 100k in a day! The event concludes tomorrow, 3/30, at 1:11pm. Attend the “virtual party” by visiting the website, or searching for the hashtag #allin4arkansas on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Help spread the word by emailing, sharing, liking, loving, and retweeting the posts that speak to you. And if you decide to give, remember you can designate your gift for the Libraries, or any unit on campus that matters to you – and your All In gift will also count as your Red, White, and True gift this year!
