Save the Date: Editor from Libraries Unlimited to Give Presentation
Melody Herr, Head of the Office of Scholarly Communication, asks: “Do you have ideas for a book about library and information science (LIS)? Do you want to learn what the “hot topics” in LIS are today?  Are you curious about what publishers do and how they make decisions?” Herr invites you to learn the answers to these questions – and many more – straight from book editor Jessica Gribble, the acquiring editor for Libraries Unlimited, who will give a web presentation specifically for the University Libraries on Tuesday, July 12, at 3pm in Mullins 102. (More details will follow closer to the date.) Thanks, Melody!

Three Weird Questions with Andre Brewer
Andre Brewer's Profile Pic
You’ve no doubt seen this Chicago native around Mullins, but did you know that Andre Brewer started working with the Libraries as a temp? He shared with the Tuesday Times that he moved to Arkansas to “pursue higher education and remove myself from the low socioeconomic environment that I grew up in.” Brewer was recently appointed Library Receiving Technician in the Business Services’ Shipping & Receiving department, but still took a moment to answer three weird questions for us: Brewer is currently reading 48 Laws of Power. His all-time, best-ever Halloween costume? “Flavor Flav! Lol.”  And if a genie gave him one wish, Brewer says he’d wish for poverty to come to an end!  Brewer is a senior at U of A and will be graduating this fall with a degree in pre law and political science. Thank you, Andre!

July is National Anti-Boredom Month – Your Staff Picks Needed!
The Mullins rotating book display for July will feature your suggestions on books that help readers bust out of boredom and enjoy summer. Anything goes! Just send me the permalink to any “anti-boredom” related books available for check-out in Mullins, along with a short description of why you chose the title. The books can be fiction, nonfiction, poetry, academic – anything you want to showcase! I’ll likely add your description to the display. Special thanks to those who have already contributed a title!

Shout Out (n.) Informal. A message of congratulation, support, or appreciation.
“This week’s shout out goes to Brian Curtis, Deb Cheval, and the rest of the Business Services team for taking the time to hook us up with POPCORN last Friday! Popcorn Fridays are always appreciated, but made even sweeter (saltier?)when we’re here and our coworkers are off in Orlando. We are forever grateful for the buttery-goodness, the whole grain kernel nutrition, and the joy!” – Dean’s Office Staff. (This is a semi-regular feature for the Tuesday Times. Let your colleagues know how much you appreciate them by giving them a shout out in next week’s edition.)
