Martha Parker Presents at First NDLC ’16
Martha Parker, Digital Services Librarian, is at the UCLA campus attending the first ever National Diversity in Libraries Conference. The sold out conference, themed “Bridges to Inclusion,” goes until 8/13. Parker is there as an attendee, learning about trends within diversity, plus participating in “ACRL Diversity Standards Revisited: Intersectional Approach to Cultural Competency” with her colleagues from the ACRL’s Diversity Committee. The roundtable discussion includes the rationale behind revising the standards, speaks to the changing organizational climate in academic libraries around diversity, and shares best practices on how to engage with cultural competencies at an academic library. Thanks for sharing this good news, Martha!

Save the Date – Know & Go: How Springshare Puts UX Into Customer Service

Thanks, Kathleen!

SPEC Kit 351: Affordable Course Content and Open Educational Resources
Lora Lennertz, Director for Academic and Research Services, reports that the webinar, Affordable Course Content and Open Educational Resources, will be offered on Wednesday, 8/17 from 12-12:45pm in MULN 486. This webinar presents the findings of the most recent ARL SPEC survey. The SPEC Kit explores the degree to which ARL member institutions advocate, support, and develop affordable course content and open educational resources (ACC/OER). Lennertz reports that our circulating copy is in the process of being routed; however, the document is now available electronically at the link above. Thank you, Lora!

Shout Out (n.) Informal. A message of congratulation, support, or appreciation.
“I’d like to give a shout out to Diane Baker, Binding and Preservation Manager in Technical Services, for her support during my first month working at the library. She’s been generous in sharing her knowledge about binding procedures and processes, and she’s helped me become familiar with the ins and outs of preparing binding shipments. Her expertise has been greatly appreciated!” – Mary Leverance, Preservation, Conservation, and Teaching Coordinator. (This is a semi-regular feature for the Tuesday Times. Let your colleagues know how much you appreciate them by giving them a shout out in next week’s edition.)
