Save the Date: IRB Approval Training

Ro Windwalker, compliance coordinator for the Office of Research Compliance, will give a presentation for library faculty and staff about the types of projects requiring IRB approval on Wednesday, March 15 from 3-4 in Room 104. She will also provide an overview of the IRB process.

Say Cheesy!

Anyone wishing to be included in a group photo on Valentine’s Day is encouraged to wear red and meet at 11 a.m. in front of the East entrance.

Shout Out (n.) Informal. A message of congratulation, support, or appreciation.

Kathleen Lehman gives a shout out to everyone who helped move the donated audio and video materials from Global Campus to Mullins. Together, the team moved 439 boxes’ worth of tapes, cassettes, and even some reel-to-reels. Folks who help with packing, loading, and unloading included: Andre, Arlyn, Brian, Jimmy, Julia, Katherine, Kent, Lee, Lora, Marei, Matt, Moultrie, Richard, and Rock.  Marei, in particular was a big help from start to finish in showing others the process and leading what needed to be done next. Known highlights include a birthday of Don Tyson, a Willie Nelson concert, and interviews with members of the Quapaw tribe, which will be available for research after the collection is processed.

I’d Like to Thank the Academy

Martha Parker has been awarded a travel grant by the Institute of Museum and Library Services to attend the 2017 National Digital Stewardship Residency symposium April 27-28 at the Library of Congress. Current host institutions include World Bank Group, Georgetown University Libraries, John Hopkins University Sheridan Libraries, the Food and Drug Administration, the Office of Science and Engineering Laboratories, the Center for Devices and Radiological Health, and the Association of Research Libraries. “My personal goal at attending the NDSR symposium is to learn from current NDSR’s residents and hosts who are exploring new trends in digital stewardship,” said Parker. “At the same time, I am very excited about the possibility of our organization being a future NDSR symposium host and to continue providing educational opportunities to colleagues and nearby organizations.”
