Repository Reception
You’re invited! Please join the Office of Scholarly Communications in celebration of the many people who have helped with the Institutional Repository and its growing content. Meet us in the Mullins Library break room on Tuesday morning, July 18 at 9. We will be serving donuts, juice and coffee.

Employee of the Quarter
If you’re planning to nominate someone for Employee of the Quarter, do so by Monday, July 17!

Welcome, Marianne!
Marianne Williams hails from Canada and is excited to now call Fayetteville home. Our new Librarian-in-Residence has two masters degrees in Museum Studies and Information Science from the University of Toronto, and her research focus is on visual and information literacy.

3 Weird Questions:

What book are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading Hunger by Roxane Gay. It’s quite a difficult read at times, but it gives an incredible and intimate look at Roxane Gay’s relationship with her body. It’s a very moving read.

What was the first concert you attended?

My first concert was The Weakerthans, a Canadian folk band from Winnipeg. I think I was 14, and they continue to be my favorite band, even though they’ve broken up and aren’t actively making music anymore. They’re very Canadian.

What was your all-time, best-ever Halloween costume?

I was a milk carton one year, and I made my own costume. It took months!

I hope to get the chance to do a lot of instruction, working with students and researchers in visual literacy, in particular, and information literacy, as well. I’d like to work with primary sources, like Special Collections and archival material, and figure out creative and innovative ways of making those collections more accessible and more interesting to students and researchers.

Be sure to stop by Room 214M and say hello! You can also reach Marianne at 5-7245 or mw052@uark.edu.
