Special Collections Helps Research Frontiers
Joshua Youngblood, Outreach and Research Services Librarian, assisted Chris Branam, who writes about research news for University Relations, on a recent blog post for Research Frontiers.  Youngblood located the headline image – an engraving by David Dale Owen, a geologist who worked in Arkansas in the 1850s – in Special Collections’ copy of “First report of a geological reconnoissance of the northern counties of Arkansas, made during the years 1857 and 1858.” Though the report is located on archive.org, you can view our hard copy from the Arkansas Collection inside Special Collections.  Interestingly, Youngblood points out, David Dale Owen is the son of Robert Owen, a utopian social reformer who started New Harmony, IN. Part of Owen’s personal library is included in the Wilson-Owen Library in our Rare Books and Special Libraries.

RazorRush Document Delivery Service
RazorRush helps patrons manage study time more effectively. Upon request, ILL retrieves, scans, and electronically delivers articles from print periodicals from our collection – usually within 48 business hours.  RazorRush is available to all UARK students, faculty and staff and includes articles from journals owned by Mullins Library, Fine Arts Library, Physics Library, and Chemistry & Biochemistry Library. ILL also scans and delivers journal articles that are held in microfiche or microfilm.  Point your patrons to the ILLiad log-in and show them how to fill out an Article Request form.

Social Media Update @UARKLibraries
Content creators and social media fans met today to discuss August/September social media content ideas for our various channels. One theme we’re concentrating on this fall is demystifying academic libraries.  If you have ideas for tips we can tweet to newbies, or questions we can help answer – especially if you’re often at the desk and get the same question again and again – let me know by emailing libshare@uark.edu.  And you can send any/all of your social media ideas to that same address. Curious about what we talked about today? Check out the handy Haiku Deck – if you view it minimized, you can read notes and explanations for each slide along the right side.
