The Libraries are hosting several upcoming events in the Walton Reading Room. All of our events are free and open to the public, but if you are a student looking for a quiet study space, another area of Mullins might work better during these events. Let us know at the desk if you need help finding a quiet spot. And remember, individual and group study rooms are available to reserve online.

  • Thursday, Feb. 25, 3:30-8:30pm: The Libraries are hosting Eunique Jones Gibson, creator of Because of Them, We Can, for a presentation at 6:30pm. The Walton Reading Room will be closed ahead of the event for set-up. Doors should reopen at 9pm.
  • Friday, Feb. 26, 8:00am-12pm: Eunique Jones Gibson will present her work to Asbell Elementary students while they are on a tour of Mullins Library and the campus. Though these students will only need the Walton Reading Room for a relatively short time, set-up and clean-up may be going on anytime from 8-12pm.
  • Thursday, March 3, 12:00-5:30pm: Dr. Elena Foulis will speak on “Latin@ Stories Across Ohio: Oral History in the Digital Era,” a presentation and workshop about collecting oral histories from traditionally under-represented groups, specifically Latinos and Hispanic Americans. A reception begins at 3pm and Dr. Foulis’s presentation starts at 3:30pm. The Walton Reading Room will be closed ahead of the event for set-up. Clean-up should be over by 5:30pm.

We’re excited to have these dynamic speakers at Mullins discussing their art, activism, work, and research. The entire community is welcome to attend University Libraries’ events, so plan your study sessions so you can sit in!
