Literature Resource CenterThe popular Literature Resource Center (LRC) has a new interface optimized for mobile devices. LRC offers up-to-date biographical information, overviews, full-text literary criticism and reviews on more than 130,000 writers in all disciplines, from all time periods and from around the world. Content is drawn from several dozen well known reference series, including:

  • Contemporary Authors
  • Dictionary of Literary Biography
  • Contemporary Literary Criticism (selections only)
  • The Scribners Writers series
  • Twayne’s World, English, and US Authors series

LRC also includes links to full text journal articles from more than 20 literary and general interest periodicals.

Artemis Literary Sources logoLRC can be searched by itself or, more conveniently, as part of Artemis Literary Resources. Artemis draws together several important research databases from Gale, including Literature Criticism Online, a collection of essays and article extracts taken from the series Drama Criticism, Poetry Criticism, Short Story Criticism, and Shakespeare Criticism.

Book Review Index CoverBook Review Index Plus, a tool that lists book reviews published in hundreds of different newspapers, magazines, and scholarly journals back to 1965, has also been redesigned for mobile devices. Some new features:

  • document-level hyperlinking that allows researchers to connect current articles in newspapers, magazines, and journals on other Gale databases
  • ability to search by publication date, document type, publication title, publication subject; to documents with full text, to peer-reviewed publications, to documents with images; and by Lexile reading level or Lexile score.
  • select and highlight important text, add notes, and view, print, or export that information for powerful project management.
  • Print, download, share, and email without restrictions.
  • Easily generate persistent URLs to any search results or document page

The Libraries’ subscription to Book Review Index was recently upgraded to Book Review Index Plus, so that full-text reviews from nearly 450 journals and magazines are now included.
